Gelso (2006) explains that the nature of a theory is a statement about a topic that shows a relationship between two variables. The role of a theory within a research should contribute to a study that shows how two or more variables relates, which have not yet been discovered, or at least provide further analysis of previous studies. Harlow (2009) added that in order to make a potential theoretical contribution to a research is the strength of a particular case study. She also added that a case study tests a particular theory, develop theory or both. Furthermore, the way a theory is contributed to a study; it involves an element which links the testing of a developing theory. In a theory on the topic of leadership, several articles were reviewed to identify the relationship between the variables of the study. …show more content…
The low morale in an organization can result from various issues, including poor planning, performance evaluations, lack of consistency, lack of communication, and other traits of leadership. Another study by Seiden & Sowa (2011), added a theory that leaders can be more effective by managing the performance of organizational members by adopting a performance management system that measures employee behavior and productivity of the organization. In an article by Krzakiewicz & Cyfert (2014), they developed a theory that in order for leaders to be more effective, they should adopt a flexible goal process. The flexible goals process allows for subordinates to be more interactive with day to day operations, by applying their creativity, involvement and ability to think rationally.
