'Collectivism In Ayn Rand's Anthem'

In the story Anthem, the characters don’t have original names. They have a name from A-Z and numbers following this format: X-XXXX. Anthem was writing in 1937 by Ayn Rand. She wrote anthem to worn the western civilization about terrible collectivism. Collectivism is where every individual is another and where they think alike. The council are the people who were in charge. They gave equality 7-2521 and his brothers their job for life. Equality 7-2521 knows he different from the rest of them and as he wonders what the unspeakable word is, he will find his way out. Equality struggled to free himself because of controlment, the find of light, and the unspeakable word. Imagine today the world that is controlled by one specific person. “Men have come close to the truth, but it was destroyed each time and one civilization fell after another” (Rand, The Soul of the Individualist). Men had came so close to the knowing of the word and it was lost because of the council keeping it a secret from the rest of the world. “He does not exist for any other man- and he asks no other man to exist for him” (Rand, The soul of the Individualist). The council believes one man is two men and that one is never alone. Equality feels that he is alone but when writing he use we because he could be punished for “being alone”. “The issue has been perverted and man has been left no alternative - and no freedom” (Rand, The soul of the Individualist). When no man has the freedom to do want they want, the council can put anything is there mind. How one should live or die, the council has them announce a saying for when they feel alone. Equality shows how he feels alone but is not able to express it without the unspeakable word. Equality can feel to word in his heart but can’t understand what it is. He knows that it is his freedom of the council and can fill
