Thinking in Numbers: On Life, Love, Meaning and Math is a book written by Daniel Tammet. Throughout the book Tammet allows us to share his unique insights and delight in the way of numbers, fractions, and equations underpin all our lives. In a way, he portrays the message that nobody is born to hate math, but that it’s about our experience with integers, fractions, and numbers that enhances the ability of one another to dislike math. Thinking in Numbers, a series of essays that discuss this relationship stated above, using different life examples such as Algebra, The Islamic Calendar and the endless possibility for Pi. Inspired variously by the complexity of snowflakes, and his wonderful eight siblings, Tammet uses some of these topics to explore questions such as why time seems to speed up as we age, whether there is such a thing as an average person and how we can make sense of those we love.
