Firstly, it is because of his mother, Gertrude. Hamlet is extremely appalled that his mother got married only “two months” (1.2.142) after the death of his father. It shows that Gertrude deceived and never loved Hamlet’s father since she didn’t even wear the “customary suits if solemn black” (1.2.81) long enough. This showed Hamlet that love is deceiving and that there was slight chance that Ophelia only loved him for his title, Prince of Denmark. Since his own mother continued to apart of the title king and queen, but just with a different king. Hamlet therefore, stopped believing in true love and turned stone cold to Ophelia. Even when Ophelia had gone mad, Hamlet didn’t care at all. Hamlet was too busy planning his revenge plan to worry about the mental state of his once true love. To Hamlet women were “breeders of sin” (3.1.132) and were disloyal. Therefore, Hamlet “loved [Ophelia] not”
