Once Jack got the taste of killing he hasn't been able to control himself once he is in the position to kill. Almost as if something takes over this poor boys body and turns him into a killer. The boys found a pig they could hopefully eat happen and when they start to kill it things take an eventful turn "Jack was on top of the sow, stabbing downward with his knife"(135). This shows how jack thoroughly enjoys the feeling he gets from killing. Jack seems to have no feelings about how he is violating these incompetent animals. Jack doesn't care about how the prey is caught or treated just as long as he gets to fulfill his feeling of killing almost as if its a drug for him. A drug he has fully given his life too and doesn't see a future without. The sad thing is, there are people in our world who seem to have the same obsession as Jack. It may be for animals like Jack, or it can be worse. There are people who have obsessions with killing real people. These people are very sick minded and need expert help. People love when it comes ready to be hunting season. You see all over the internet people smiling and posing with the animal they just killed. Now especially in our time, people seem to think that killing is a good way to get revenge on those who have done wrong to them. Killing should never be a way to release tension or have fun. This quote shows that Jack is truly turning savage and losing his innocence almost as if he never had any to start

This can be seen when Jack paints his own war mask. Whilst staring at a reflection of himself in the mask, Jack “looked in astonishment, no longer at himself but at an awesome stranger [...] He began to dance and his laughter became a bloodthirsty snarling [...] and the mask became a thing of its own, behind which Jack hid, liberated from shame and self-consciousness” (Golding 63-64). By wearing the mask, Jack acquires the ability to conceal his true, “self-conscious” being and, as a result, his savagery is evoked. Jack even begins to lose sight of who he truly is when he looks “ no longer at himself” but at a boy consumed by viciousness.…
