The Theme Of Freedom In Ayn Rand's Anthem

Religion has always been a controversial topic. The trouble is when the government becomes the religion, it can be simple mind control. The citizens may live in ignorance and fear, and sins may become laws. This is what occurs to Equality 7-2521 in Ayn Rand’s Anthem. Equality has to undergo his own quest to discover what is true and untrue and to help others after he has discovered the truth. Ayn Rand in her novella, Anthem, incorporates the Hero’s Journey to prove that one needs to become self-actualized to help others become their true selves. In Anthem by Ayn Rand, Equality 7-2521’s separation from the oppressive collectivist society during his heroic journey reinforces the message that to help others become who they are meant to be, one must become self-actualized.
