Amir’s father states, “it might be unfair, but what happens in a single day can change the course of a whole life” (Hossieni 142). This quote simply means that one single act can affect a person forever. Amir’s father in this line references the theme that seems to be applied in most of this book. This theme, of how quickly everything can change was used pretty heavily throughout the book The Kite Runner. Amir’s father speaking about past mistakes reminds Amir of his past mistakes with Hassan. Many things have already happened to Amir that changed the course of his life and he realizes that many more instances will occur in his future that he will not be able to control.
