One map shows the amount of people enslaved from each country’s population. The significance of this is to show that the countries who suffer from underdevelopment and poverty are the most likely to be victimized in this horrible crime. It showcases the negative effects that lower socioeconomic status can have on their citizens. The other map that I refer to and analyzed shows the amount of slaves currently in a country. The main thing that stood out to me here was my home, the United States of America. While we are one of the countries least likely to be victimized by modern slavery, we are decently high in the ranks when it comes to the amount of slaves we have in our country. The trends in these maps, especially in the United States illustrates the fact that people of less opportunity are taken advantage of by people who have wealth and
