What did she contribute to Rizal’s Life? It is said that Eduardo de Lete was actually one of the reasons Rizal gave up his affection for Consuelo. Lete really liked her and Rizal did not want to ruin their friendship by fighting over a lady. Because of Consuelo, Lete attacked the hero through an article in La Solidaridad that Rizal was a, “coward, egoistic, opportunistic, and someone who abandoned the country’s cause.” She however made the poem of Rizal titled “La Señorita C.O. y R” famous because it was either written as a reaction to Consuelo’s request or out of Rizal’s choice as an admirer. He did not just hurt Rizal’s feelings once but twice, and he was forced to give up his feelings because he was still engaged to Leonor Rivera.

Equality is something that is perpetually strived for, but seldom achieved. In the novella The House On Mango Street by Sandra Cisneros, the protagonist, Esperanza, does not want to continue the cycle of inequality. Throughout the story, Esperanza continually sees women in her life treated like objects in a society that values women for their looks, and not for what is on the inside. In the thread of gender roles, a theme that is developed is that men do not treat women as their equals, but instead as something that can be possessed and dominated. This theme is developed throughout the stories Esperanza tells about her great-grandmother’s resentment of being a married woman, Rafaela’s lack of freedom in her marriage, and the troubles Minerva…

Although Don Quixote might seem to be just a book written about a “knight errant and his squire” going on ridiculous adventures that ultimately end with them being beaten up it happens to be so much more than that. Cervantes has done a great job at providing his readers with themes that are relevant to the time period he is writing in and also provides ample example of character development throughout the novel. One of the characters that the readers are able to see develop over time would be Sancho Panza. While serving as Don Quixote’s squire Sancho has developed…
