The effect on a child that plays or is addicted to violent video games could, mentally and physically effect your child depending on the type of game they are playing. Some video games have an age requirement to tell if he or she is old enough. Which means if a child doesn’t meet the age requirement or isn’t mature enough to play the game they should definitely not have contact with the game or watch some one else play the game. From the prospective of a seventeen year old male, most teenagers don’t even think about video games until introduced to games by family or friends. The introduction of violent video games usually start off with simple games like Pac-Man or Donkey Kong. After the new user realizes that he/she is the only person their …show more content…
But if he or she plays the game frequently to that point, the game can and will skew a one’s perception or their point of view of violence and the consequences (Addictive -games). There is type of phase/ syndrome that people may go through from playing violent video game for a long period of time called long-term video game effects. The long-term effects of violent video games are still undecided and are mostly debated . There is a theory that excessive contact with violent video games can cause aggressive beliefs and attitudes (Anderson & Bushman). Thus meaning it would be wise for parents to watch or supervise the amount of time their child or teenager spends playing video games (Anderson). Most parents would not sit and watch their child play the game to see if the game will have any negative or positive effects. Most parents just read the game packaging case and leave it at that. However, if the game contains negative or unclean parts and so happens to do effect the child in a harmful or mental way ; The parent or guardian of the child needs to see the age requirement of the game to see what is the rating for it. There are four different types of rating you have E-Everyone, E+10 everyone and ages +10, then you have T-Teenagers only , and the last one is M- Mature(ESRB). This could lead to a life of bullying, being bullied, violence and sometimes even crime. 60-90 percent of parents and people strongly believe that violent video games can increase aggressive behavior to their children(Pro). However , studies show that having an overwhelming connection to violent media can cause aggressive behavior in some children(Pro). Most video games are often required for players to do violent actions , which includes dismembering someone or killing them(Pro). High tech video game controllers are sophisticated and games nowadays are very realistic to the point were simulating or playing the violent act can enhance the act of violent behavior(Pro). In 2015 a study was found that realistic controllers has a very strong effect level of aggression and bad behavior(Pro). So even the controller to the game can have a violent effect if the user plays too much . But of course, it depends on the type of game the user is playing. Which can also mean that it may not be the video game it self but the one that is controlling it. Some violent video games give you the choice to do good or to do worse . Thus meaning, that if the player chooses to do bad that means that the player want to do bad through his own will. Also meaning that it can change ones
