The nurse checks the tray to make sure all the body parts are there. She confirms, carefully disposes of the body and cleans the bloody mess. Sounds like murder, huh? These actions often occur during the process of an abortion. “Abortion is the termination of pregnancy before the fetus is viable” (McGraw-Hill). Although many people believe that this procedure is harmless, I believe that abortion is an inhumane act and women should be more aware of the long term consequences. The start of abortion dates all the way back into ancient times. Nobody knows when the first abortion took place or the motives for it but researchers say that “abortions had been practiced freely until 1880 when most states banned it except to save the life of a woman” …show more content…
Many people believe that a fetus is not alive and does not know what is going on during an abortion, but at only 12 weeks the fetus’ hearing is already fully developing which means they can react to certain sounds. In the short film “The Silent Scream” by Jack Dabner, you can literally see how the fetus flinches at the touch of the steel instrument.
The girl is moving in the womb; displays a heartbeat of 140 per minute; and is at times sucking her thumb. As the abortionist’s suction tip begins to invade the womb, the child rears and moves violently in an attempt to avoid the instrument. Her mouth is visibly open in a “silent scream.” The child’s heart rate speeds up dramatically (to 200 beats per minute) as she senses aggression. She moves violently away in a pathetic attempt to escape the instrument.

People may ask, “what if a 12 year old girl was impregnated by a rapist?” In the event that a child is raped, she could seek help and take medications that prevent the pregnancy from happening. If it is too late, the baby could be given up for adoption. A 12 year old child does not have the intellect to say “okay, I want to kill this baby.” They do not fully understand what is going on and are only influenced by the opinions of adults. If a grown woman, who knows what she is doing has post-abortion mental issues imagine how that 12 year old girl will feel when she is 25 and is aware of what adults made her
