Let us prove this point from the Scriptures. God is a Spirit. God is also the Word. The Spirit always leads to the Word. This is even confirmed by the parable of the Ten Virgins and the Oil (Matthew 25: 1-13). Five of them were wise and five were foolish. They all took their lamps and went forth to meet the bridegroom. The wise took their lamps and also extra oil in a separate vessel. The foolish took their lamps but did not take extra oil with them. The foolish virgins had some oil in their lamps only. Because they had been burning for sometime their lamps had gone out when the awakening call came (Verse 8). Oil represents the Holy Spirit. The foolish virgins had a little touch of the Holy Spirit whereas the wise virgins had the fullness of the Holy Spirit. They all were waiting for the Bridegroom. At midnight there was a cry made, “Behold, the bridegroom cometh; go ye out to meet him” (verse 6). This is similar to the cry made by John the Baptist, “Behold the Lamb of God” (John 1: 29, 36).
