When considering the interpretation of Shakespearean plays, it is common to find similarities among popular culture through iterations that can be directly linked, such as Hamlet to that of The Lion King in plot and character struggles. Furthermore, this enables for an intriguing investigation in to the works of Disney that may aid in the discovery of all sorts of other Shakespearean plots, and presenting them as a revision of historical pieces of art. For this document, the two works of The Tempest and Pocahontas will be studied to investigate the possibility of another revision that seems to impart a more modern cultural viewpoint than of the original work.

As a result of this, a decision must be made on the nature of the values that was held during that area of time culturally, and what Shakespeare intended for the Tempest to represent. Based upon the final concluding acts of the Tempest as well as the epilogue which goes on to reflect Shakespeare’s purpose of writing it. The interpretation that would be used in this document would so happen to be the one that would signify Shakespeare’s farewell to the stage, using Prospero as a metaphor for his own exploits as a playwright. This interpretation lends itself to be more agreeable through not only the actions Prospero’s manipulations, but of the references of his characters to his previous plays.
