Summary Of Poe's The Tell-Tale Heart

The narrator opens the story of “The Tell-Tale Heart” written by Edgar Allan Poe, telling us the readers how nervous “True! - nervous - very, very dreadfully nervous I had been and am” (721). As well as to try to convince, that he is not crazy and really thinks that the older man’s eye is truly indeed evil. “I think it was his eye! Yes it was this! One of his eyes resembled that of a vulture-a pale blue, with a film over it.”(721) Every night, he went to the old man’s room and secretly watched him while he would sleep. Randomly on the eighth night he decides he has had enough of the “vulture-like eye” and comes up with a plan to not necessarily kill the old man but to get rid of the evil eye. “I made up my mind to rid myself of the eye for ever" (722). I found it so unjust to the old man because he had no idea of the problem the narrator had with his eye. You could tell the narrator wrestles with the feelings of harming the old man because he talked about how the old man never done him wrong and how the two of them get along with each other just very well (721). There are many "meaning" to this short story by Poe. From what this story teach pretty much, that if you do something, or make an mistake in the view of the fact that we as human beings and are allowed to. You have to make it right and set yourself free and not choose to keep it inside, because that will welcome unwanted & maybe unpleasant events in you life, most would call this bad
