After performing a close reading of the given passage, in this essay I will discuss the ways in which the passage helps to interpret the text it has been taken from. I will do this using the following headings, in relation to the passage and then referring to the text as a whole, and how they relate; theme, style, language, tone and imagery, characters and symbols. The passage has been taken from Edgar Allan Poe’s work, “The Tell-Tale Heart”.
