The act of bullying another is defined as the use of superior strength or power to intimidate someone to achieve a desired outcome. Some people will argue that a teacher isn’t bullying, but instead administering proper punishments to help correct misbehavior to keep control over the classroom. Now I do believe there should be some form of justifiable punishment for students that misbehave in class; however, there is a distinctive difference between justifiable punishments and using power of authority to humiliate and bully students. Humiliating and abusing students through intimidation, threats and sometimes physical violence can have a lasting effect on the students involved. Physical violence by pushing and beating up on students and humiliation such as being forced to wear tiara while sitting in a desk in front of the class is unnecessary bullying and unneeded in a learning environment. Furthermore, intimidation methods such as calling out students for their disabilities and berating students in front of their peers is social intimidation through bullying and should be looked into more closely.
