The greenhouse gas (GHG) emissions also depend on where the energy comes from. To produce one tonne of Al, about 12 – 15 MWh of electricity is required, luckily for Quebec, the energy comes from hydroelectric dams which contribute less towards …show more content…
With the world population growing, the supply and demand increases annually. Targets are split into two main categories which make sense. We need to first inform, encourage and promote sustainable lifestyles for both consumers and producers. With the everyone aware of global problems, we must then apply it into actions, which is measured through the data over the years. Since sustainable production and consumption is such a vast goal, it is realistically not achievable by 2030. There is so much branches that fall under producers and consumers, such as agricultural, industrial, resources, waste from all these processes. On the bright side, we can push these goals which can make an effective impact. There are so many types of metals produced, and we have to ensure all of the processes fall under sustainable production and waste management. Taking Aluminum production for example, oxalate, a chemical was treated through combustion, which releases CO2, a GHG ADDIN EN.CITE McSweeney20112(McSweeney, 2011)2219McSweeney, NaomiAustralasian Science32-33325Sciences: Comprehensive WorksBacteriaMicrobiologyMicroorganismsAtmospheric corrosionAlumina2011Jun 2011HawksburnControl Publications Pty
