In a T.V. show they display memories like a video recorder of what happened in the past precisely. The only way to really have that accurate of a memory is if you record it and then look back it. Many people also will recall a memory and then fit whatever they think happened and just play it like it is actually a video recorder going through their mind. Many times when I try to remember what happened at my birthday party a couple of years ago I want to play it in my head like a video, but I know it is nothing like it was when the my birthday took place because I just fill and mix all my memories together. Whenever I am taking a test, a day before the test I will try and rehearse the material. I tend to study aloud and try to think of it as having a tape recorder memory. For example, a student whose name is Jennifer Thompson had been raped in her apartment and was attacked for almost an hour. When she confidently identified the attacker on the photo sheet it had been Ronald Cotton. When Thompson was in court the jury saw that Jennifer had been positive that Cotton was the one. When this occurred the jury’s decision was guilty and Cotton spent eleven years in jail. There was evidence that was shown eleven years later that the DNA matched with a person named Bobby Poole instead of Cotton. This explained that no matter how confident a person is, memory can still be shown as inaccurate. According to (Wells et al., 2007). Did many studies that show when a witness has picked out a suspect and then gets feedback back it can change the confidence of the person. Positive feedback has its pros and cons it can lead witnesses thinking the view of the suspect they got is better than it really is. This also showed that a single comment can make people misremember details about something that happened and make them more confident about
