Do you really cherish the ones you love? “The Tall Woman and Her Short Husband” by Feng Ji-cai evoked emotion on a personal level through imagery and similes. Throughout the story you feel bad for both of them they are judged daily by people who barely know them. They also had to endure their every move being spied upon. To truly understand the feelings of the character literary devices must be used.
Throughout the story similes are used to compare the man and woman to each other and other things. The most bothersome smile in the story is “this tall woman who looked like a horse” (Ji-cai 531). Not only did that dig deep in my soul how compared her to an animal but it hurt me more so because she has a name and identity she is more than just
