The US took in a total of 2,290 Syrian refugees since 2011, which is when the Syrian civil war began, through Nov. 2015. The US president’s plan is to take in 10,000 Syrian refugees. Although the US accepted to take in these refugees, more than half the nation's governors say they oppose letting Syrian refugees into their states.
