The Syrian Civil War has been a controversial issue for a while now. According to CNN Student News, the war has been going on for almost five years. The article, “Syria: The story of the conflict,” on www.bbc.com, states that more than 250,000 Syrians have been killed in the conflict, “which began with anti-government protests before escalating into a full scale war.” The story of the Syrian Civil War, starts from that point in time. After the protests intensified, and became a full blown civil war, it lead to other problems; starting with war crimes. These included torture, rape, murder, and enforced disappearances. The UN Commission of Inquiry has evidence that, “all parties to the conflict have committed these crimes.” The next issue was the humanitarian crisis; which some call the worst of our time.
