The dogs represent my love for them and my loyalty to my friends. I think that if you are going to lie and gossip about your friends, then you shouldn't have them. The bear represents that in the morning, I am a bear. I absolutely HATE getting up in the morning. My parents even call me a bear sometimes. The “S” with the tree in it is the Stanford University logo. I want to go there for college when I get older. It is very hard to get into, so I want to get a scholarship there. When I drew this painting, I used aspects in the story to reflect the imagery and the connections to relate the painting. If you were to read the chapters in the book, it would indicate that Bud’s suitcase resembles his pride. The reason I drew a depiction of hell is because, I wanted to show a strong tone of feeling, in a way to connect with the story. The major theme of “Bud, Not Buddy”, centers on a little African American boy who is in a search for family. Not only being Motherless, Bud has been abused by the Flint Orphanage for he result of his skin.…

    2) The cover of my story book has a pink Star of David with the title “Bat Mitzvah” on a scroll which represents the Torah. At the top, the Hebrew name “Becky” is spelled out in multicoloured stickers. All of this is on a white sheet of paper that is on top of a black binder. First of all, the reason I put the white sheet on top of the black binder instead of just placing the images on it is because of the contrast in your beliefs and the story.…

The symbols and pictures on this page represent Liesel’s story, The Book Thief. Like a few other books, Liesel got this from Ilsa Hermann. Contrasting from her other books though, The Book Thief was Liesel’s novel she had been writing since she got it, and up to when her street (Himmel Street) is bombed during an attack. The book is retrieved by the story’s narrator Death, and returned to Liesel after she eventually passes on. Just like The Book Thief is a creative outlet that allows Liesel to mature through her words, the pictures on this page symbolize Liesel’s ways of letting out her emotions, her overall relationship with books, how they have affected her, and how she eventually finds strength in her weakness (Going from not knowing…

In his book “Masterful Living: New Vocabulary for the Holy life” Kevin Mannoia introduces the reader to a new approach in interpreting the idea of holiness. He starts the book by addressing the issues that are related to the misunderstanding of holiness. The first two pages show symbolism within ‘The Book Thief’, the last two pages display symbolism featured in ‘Educating Rita’ and the middle two represents something in common between both texts. Every drawing depicts a different theme within one of the texts. The book I created consists of three major part: For ‘The Book Thief’, there is an accordion to represent hope and a book underneath a coat to represent courage. In the text, Hans inherits an accordion after his friend sacrificed their own life for him. The accordion is also why the family felt the need to help Max when he shows up on the doorstep.…

In my Coat of Arms Project, I decided to use two symbolic shapes that represent who I am as a person. One of the first shapes I thought of was the circle since the circle is most commonly associated with routine and perfection. Being in routine and having a cycle of everyday events prevents me from having anxiety or stress about school since having a schedule will help plan out my day and allow me extra spare time to do extracurricular activities. In addition, I am usually referred to as a perfectionist because I always want to get a 100% on all homework, classwork, quizzes, and tests. Another shape I thought of that illustrated my personality was the square since it is linked with integrity and community.…

I have chosen to put a candle inside of the shoebox to represent the main character in the book, John, or Number Four. In the story John Smith has is immune to fire on the exterior of his body, but not the inside of his body. John Smith is able to control and create light, and because of that, he is also able to control fire. This power of Johns doesn't just allow him to control fire, but also energy itself making John's power limitless. There is a thermometer in the shoebox because the character in the story, Number Six, has the ability to manipulate, but not create, wind, water, fire, and lightning.…

I chose my first image, the two boys together, to represent the friendship that Shmuel and Bruno have together, even in the drastic situation. The first word i chose was “Friendship” which was a major part of the film, and Bruno’s friendship with Shmuel really touched my heart. I then chose the word “Innocence” to show how innocent Bruno is to not realize what is happening to the Jewish people, like when he said, “ Can we go to the café or something?” inside the concentration camp. The second image is chose was thousands of shoes outside of a gas chamber.…

The symbolism that I used in my mask was to symbolize how I love to read, how I love to play basketball, how I love diamonds, and also how the story The Masque of The Red Death is symbolized with the death of many people. The masks represents many things about me and want I love in my life. Two items that I put on my mask was many torn out pages of a book and a red painted basketball.
