With a growing population and new generations the demand of many products rises and fall, however the demand for coffee has been on a constant upward climb since the 18th century. In the 18th century during the Boston Tea Party of 1773, coffee began to make its way into the new world as a replacement for tea and its growing popularity hasn’t quite yet. With the demand of coffee “forecasted in the service market in the US to grow at a CAGR of 4.48% during the period 2016-2020 between beans and other products such as flavoring, mixes and supplies.”(Office coffee, 2016) The supply will be unable to keep up and will likely drive prices higher then currently set. It is unsure however if prices will become to high for consumers to afford, with the average price of designer coffee being around $5 already, its uncertain how much more Americans are willing to spend on there favorite drink. “The disparity in demand and supply, low production, natural calamities, unfavorable weather conditions, unpredictable rainfall, and rising labor costs all lead to volatile prices. This results in uncertainty, as coffee producers are unable to pre-plan and allocate resources.” (Global roast, 2016) Unsure of where coffee prices will go, but knowing that the demand for coffee is forecasted to rise significantly makes some Americans uneasy about the future of their favorite drink.
