Human trafficking is modern day slavery, usually involving kidnapping, drugs, forced sex, forced labor or death. Men, women, and children from all over the world are bought and sold against their will, making trafficking one of the most deplorable crimes of the 21st century. In an attempt to bring attention to a huge issue regarding human trafficking, the Abolishing Justice in the 21st Century (A21) organization made a campaign poster titled “The Super Bowl- Human Trafficking”, presenting statistical information which concludes that the Super Bowl is the largest human trafficking incident in the United States. The light represents inalienable rights of people for freedom, which is women is trying to reach the entire photo is in black, gray and white colors. The contrast between the gray background and the red information draw the viewer’s attention to the left side of the poster to read the information. Additionally, in the right lower side is a shaky image of a woman running away from something and running towards the light. The alignment or leading line (the tunnel) capture the attention and makes the viewer’s eyes follow the tunnel from the left lower corner to the upper right corner. The viewer then reads the text on the left side, where leading words “Super Bowl- Human Trafficking” is in red bold letters, whereas in smaller letters is the information which gives the explanation for the main image in the center of the artwork. This text tells the viewer that “Super Bowl is commonly known as the single largest human trafficking incident in the United States”. After reading the above text the viewer’s eyes go to the bottom of the poster where the text says “Become Voice” and under this line in lower right corner reads “#Shocking Truth”- the font used is commensurate but in white color compared to the red text. When looking at the text, the viewer will notice the font varies; there is red text, black text, and white text but the boldest red words are “Human Trafficking”. This allows the reader to easily identify what parts of the text are most important and gather the information accordingly.
