A further analysis of Thich Nhat Hanh’s Environmental Perspectives Within Thich Nhat Hanh’s text, The Sun My Heart, he gives an extraordinary perspective upon his own personal experiences as well as using contemporary science and philosophy to help others receive a greater acknowledgment within our daily reality. His story takes place within his monastery in Plum Village. Here he illuminates how everyday events can lead to a greater insight within. Within his text, he begins with a story that is carried on throughout the entirety of the book and as the story continues, more and more points that are brought up within are connected into the story and give them a much larger and in depth meaning. One of his first references that plays a role throughout a large portion of the text is that of a glass filled with apple juice. Hanh describes how a glass of apple juice can be very similar to one in search of simplicity and insight. As he entertains a guest at his residence, he begins to give connections with oneself and basic objects. “The glass of juice has a very stable base. But you, your sitting is not so sure. Those tiny bits of pulp only have to follow the laws of nature to fall gently to the bottom of the glass. But your thoughts obey no such law.
