In the novel The Sun Also Rises, by Ernest Hemingway, speaks on the subject of Jake and his life and how he is involved with many people and how these different people impact his life. One specific character is Lady Ashley, also known as Brett. Brett is someone the main character, Jake has a big relationship with from previous years.
Brett is someone who Jake introduces as a woman who is in the club with a bunch of males friends. Jake does not like the male friends Brett chooses to hang with. He says "The wavy blond one answered: ""Don't you worry, dear."" And with them was Brett. I was very angry. Somehow they always made me angry" (28). Jake has to have some type of long relationship with Brett in order for him to bring her up.
