One of the major themes in the book the summer I turned pretty by Jenny Han is learning how to move on and learning that life will go on. One way the book shows this is the main character Belly must get over her love interest named Conrad. Belly is very heartbroken that she must get herself over Conrad because she has loved him for as long as she can remember. The reason this theme developed is because Conrad began to have love interest in another girl and Belly must begin to get over him.
