When Christmas rolled around Anne and her sisters were still at the Thompson Orphanage. On Christmas morning Santa brought them all a gift; Anne received a doll. The doll had red yarn hair, with a blue dress; Anne adored her, she chose to name this doll Emily. Anne loved this doll; she always played with her and kept her right by her side.“I placed Emily in the bottom of my suitcase, for fear that if I carried her out in my arms they would make me leave her behind”(48).The author proves the significant meaning of her doll.
