Style Of Parenting Analysis

The style of parenting that I think my parent used is the style of the Helicopter parents. According to the book, the Helicopter parents are defined as the following; lives revolve around their children, hover over children and rescue them whenever they have a problem – leaves children unequipped to handle challenges. My parents have always been very involved in my life. They always knew what was going on in my life and they were always there for anything that went wrong in my life. No matter how big or small, they were always there for me and they always fixed it. This has left me very unequipped to handle challenges at the beginning of my college life. According to the book, the Authoritative parents are defined as the following; strict rules but more democratic, responsive toward their children, nurturing and forgiving. I believe that the rules that my parents had for me helped me get my priorities straight and set me up for success for the future. At the same time, I would like to be able to talk to my kids as a friend at times. I do not want them to be scared of mistakes because mistakes are a part of life and I do not want them to be scared to come to me for help when they mess up. I believe it would take a lot of work, time and bonding to achieve this. They would need to understand that I am the parent and that my rules are there to be followed as they are there for their own good. At the same time I would like to build a relationship where they are free to talk to me without being scared of getting in trouble. In our society today it has come to mean that the head of the family is mistreating the others. It makes that other members of the family need to be removed from their abuser, and the abuser need to brought to justice. I believe one characteristic that is most crucial to having a functional family is the “Freedom to want and choose what one wants, rather than what one should want”, This is important because it lets people be their own person. If someone is always doing what others what, they start to build resentment and that is something that destroys families. I will ensure that my family will have this by making sure that everyone gets to voice what they want and making sure that we are always keeping everyone
