With only 300 students in seventh through twelfth grade, the school operates on an insufficient amount of teachers, therefore limiting the courses available. The flaw is illustrated by a student who struggled through their junior year taking college algebra concurrently with precalculus so they could take calculus their senior year, only to find out that sadly—LJHS no longer offers the class. Though the student is disappointed, he looks for another math option, but the school does not offer one. At a volleyball match, cheering students squeeze into the small bleachers. A prominent senior leads the cheers roaring from the crowd. They yell “LET 'S” for the pass, “GET” for the set, “TROPICAL” for the hit, and then there is a loud uproar that shakes the bleachers as the other team shanks the ball. They cheer in unison despite barely knowing each other, and now they have something to talk about in that one class where they sat awkwardly by each other. This small connection they made is something that happens at LJHS all the time and are built into real friendships. Moments like these hold everyone at Lone Jack together despite individual differences. A football player and a soccer player, a debater and an FFA member, an average student and a straight A student can all bond and become friends because of little situations and links created throughout their high school
