With this information, students do not know exactly what they are doing to themselves as they use that piece of paper to help them on their exams. They will start to understand based off cheating that they can get by without doing any work themselves. Some people believe that cheating is not a big deal. Think about your career intentions. Do you plan on relying the rest of your life on others? Never cooking, working, or whipping your butt on your own, the list goes on and on. Students need to understand that relying on someone else the rest of your life is not how life is supposed to work. Cheating is as bad as depending on your mother the rest of your life and acting like a toddler who needs her to do everything for you. This is pathetic. Students need to grow up and apply themselves or ask for help if they do not understand rather than using someone else to do anything in life. Colleges that do not discipline regularly for cheating or plagiarism themselves should be ashamed, because they are the reason why students believe they can get away with cheating. As one can see there are several instances were students have either gotten away with these violations, or that students have been over disciplined for being innocent. Colleges need to step up to the plate. They need to examine each case and encourage their faculty to report a student whom they believe to have broken the student code of conduct. With this, the college should be permitted to prosecute the student fully of its reach, if not the law. It is also crucial that the school maintains their ability to prosecute their student for violations against the student code of conduct.
