John Proctor in the play The Crucible is a very unbelieved and tortured person. John thinks that the way him and Abigail got with each other really hurt how God looks down on him. In the eyes of John’s wife and himself they did not likes how everything turned out with John and Abigail. John had committed the sin adultery. He did not like what he had done, and would not forgive himself. In The Crucible, by Arthur Miller, he uses John Proctors struggle to show that one person can not stand up against the society.
