As Romeo looks for the destined girl of his dreams, at the ball which he is not supposed to be at, Tybalt is surely there to make sure he goes away. “This, by his voice, should be a Montague.—/ Fetch me my rapier, boy./ [...]/ To strike him dead I hold it not a sin.” (1.5.61-67) Instantly Tybalt decided that fighting would be the best way to solve a problem. Romeo came to the Capulet ball which he was not supposed to be at, so Tybalt wants to fight him. Typically young boys would be so quick to fight instead of talking out their feelings and emotions. Their emotions are heightened and Romeo is inclined to find Juliet, as Tybalt is to slaying Romeo. This time Capulet arrives to figure out what is going on between Tybalt and Romeo. Quickly, Capulet disagrees and tells Tybalt to let Romeo be because he is a well behaved boy. Concurrently, he continues to call Romeo names such as “villain” in order to show his distaste towards him. The difference between Tybalt’s maturity and Capulet’s is shown by their actions and personalities. The calm way in which an adult handles such issues and the senseless way in which a young adult such as Tybalt would handle it by fighting and name-calling. In reality, teens talk to their friends about “love at first sight” and how they can be so in love with someone they may have never even exchanged words with. If they do become romantically involved and claim that they are “in love” within a week, can someone actually develop feelings for another person so quickly? Probably not, to develop strong feelings such as love, takes time. Of course it depends on the person, but most people do not tend to meet someone and marry them over the weekend. However, Romeo and Juliet may just be that one couple who could do just that. They both become more and more rebellious as the play progresses the more their love is forbidden. Capulet urges Paris, the main who wants to marry Juliet, to woo her at the ball as she is too young still. When Lady Capulet has to break the news to Juliet she claims she will consider looking at Paris for marriage, but nothing more. Juliet unwillingly obeys her mother revealing the generation gap. Although Lady Capulet and Capulet are trying to look out for her daughter and do what is best for her, it is not what she wants. She does not want an arranged marriage but rather be able to experience love for herself.
