Kate Chopin is one of the first famous authors of the 20th century. She wrote a lot of short stories. She was born in 1850-1904 in St. Louis Missouri. American novelist and short-story writer known as an interpreter of New Orleans culture. She was born and raised in catholic religion, which is really strict. During her living time period south has really conjugative perception. She attended a St. Louis catholic girl school.”Chopin specifically ridiculed women writers in only three works”( Heather Kirk Thomas). She wrote about girls rights, which is really challenging for her in the south at that time period. The story she wrote had to do with respectability of her characters. Among her famous short stories, The Respectable Women, An Hour has a respectable character, but The Strom has a disrespectable character. First of all, The Respectable Women is a story of a women with good character. The character from this story is respectable, because she maintains distance with a guy whom she started to attracted. Its talks about uncontrolled sexual desire about between two people that are married with other two people. “Some critics argue that Chopin wisely tempers the emotional elements inherent in Mrs. Mallard's situation”( Jennifer Hicks). This helps understand that she didn’t control her emotion. They both are marriage, and they have lost their passion. Their feelings for each other is come out during a storm, which destroyed the town. Eventually they can together and they had an extra marriage affair. The Calxita failed great passion, and her affair is wrong but its felt right. She didn’t control her feeling and she started to cheating on her husband. She had a happy married life, but she is involving with other guy. These all things make her disrespectable
