He destroyed monuments of previous reigning dynasties witched had fallen out of favor and sought to return to Egyption religion. Ramses II had fought in a lot of battles his most famous one is the battle of Kadesh. The battle of Kadesh took place in 1274 B.C. against the Hittites. Soldiers in the Battle of Kadesh used large chariots. But Ramses made a tactical mistake he decided to split his forces and got caused to swept away. Ramses II had a lot of strengths to, these are his strengths. People looked up to Ramses ll as a god, it also helped his son who at one point commanded the army. Ramses ll had a great military impact. Ramses ll was the most famous pharaoh for his military strength. Ramses ll’s army was 100,000 men strong whitch was really big at the time period. Ramses ll helped secure Egypt’s borders from foreign invaders and pirates along the Mediterranean Sea. Ramses ll managed to fend off invasions from the Hittites and Nubians. He was mainly known for his architectural, military, and religious achievements. Ramses ll built the most monuments of any pharaoh in his lifetime, including the Ramses ll statue, the Ramesseum, the Pylon of Ramses, and the Abu Simbel temples. On his monuments he depicted himself, his wives, and his kids. Ramses is also known for being a military genius. The website ancient-egypt-online states, “Ramses II's army was 100,000 men strong, enormous for that period in time.” One of his most famous battles was the Battle of Kadesh in 1274 B.C. against the Hittites. During this battle he made an important tactical mistake, splitting his army and ending the battle in a tie. However, a lot of his other military deeds make up for that. He won several important battles, taking back territories former rulers of Egypt lost - most notably Akhenaten.
