Everyone will experience death in their lifetime. This idea is shown in The Stranger by Albert Camus. The book explains how many will recieve life out of death. Through Meursault’s observations, Camus’ The Stranger demonstrates that for Meursault to find his meaning of life, he must observe his physical surroundings.
In the book you can see life during death many times. For instance, while Meursault is visiting his Mother’s dead body the room is “It was a bright, spotlessly clean room, with whitewashed walls and a big skylight”(5). In Camus’ The Stranger, Kathryn B. McGuire says: “Studies reveal that light is equated with consciousness, truth, in-sight, and enlightenment”. “Light also suggests the human qualities of man, while darkness suggests

"You take on the fellow on the right, and give me your revolver. If the other one starts making trouble or gets out his knife, I’ll shoot." (37). According to Dr. Michael Delahoyde’s Camus’ The Stranger: “He 's so mentally detached that the thought of murder poses no great emotion or even feared remorse”. This tells how Meursault has no real feeling or has no real meaning to life. The murder does not affect him in any way. He continues his everyday life as usual. When he kills someone else he starts to live on his own and leave his dull life before. He realizes that there is no true meaning to life and that he must just go with the flow. When Meursault kills the Arab it is not until later that he realizes what he has done is kind of …show more content…
Meursault has the same attitude towards every situation in life. He just does not care what is going on in the world. He would just rather simply be dead so he does not have to put up with this life anymore.
Death is the moment of life for everyone. Whether it is their own or someone they are close to they are going to experience death. This death experience is overall going to bring them close to the meaning of life. Everyone has a different meaning to their life or what they understand to be their meaning of life. Meursault does not have a meaning of life in The Stranger he does not think that people have meanings he just believes that everyone is pointless.
Depending on what people believe is there meaning of life changes how they act. Since Meursault does not believe that their is a point to life he does not act with a purpose. Meursault overall just acts as a robot because he has no real emotions like a robot. He did not even cry at his own mother 's funeral. He did not have a good relationship with his mother but he still lost someone important to his life. And he does not even let one tear loose. This shows that since he believes that there is no purpose in life that he does not care what happens in his

Camus’ Meursault truly is apathetic towards the murder, feeling remorse solely for his individual loss of freedom rather than lamenting the loss of life attributed to his hand. Meursault, in the end, is truly isolated and alone. He commits the murder by himself and without any real motivation, despite his insinuation that the sun somehow forced his hand. He never inquires the name of his victim, referring to the ambiguous dead man only as, “the Arab.” Harun, however, is directly influenced by his mother and premediates the murder of Joseph Larquais.…

There are many theories that there is absolutely no meaning to life, and no purpose for people being alive. Joseph Campbell said, “Life has no meaning. Each of us has meaning and we bring it to life. It is a waste to be asking the question when you are the answer.” He argued that it is a waste of time to ponder the meaning of life, and that there is no reason for…

He never thought about his actions all the way through. He shot a man because the sun was too hot and did not even stop to think of the consequences that would follow. Because of this living in the moment thinking, some readers can really relate to him, while others think that he is insensitive. The author highlights this personality trait throughout the novel, but with this act of violence it really becomes evident that Meursault truly believes that life is meaningless and therefore he has no need to worry about his…

This description emphasizes the idea that Meursault is taking into account the heat and sun during all of the events. When Meursault leaves, he says “But the whole beach, throbbing in the sun, was pressing on my back.” this is significant because it shows how the sun appears to be as a factor that caused him to head back to the creek to meet the Arab. “ the arab drew his knife and held it up to me in the sun. the light shot off the steel and it was like a long flashing blade cutting at my forehead” (59).Meursault meets the Arab and gets provoked by the heat and the sun being reflected into his eyes off the Arab’s knife and ends up shooting him 5 times.…

Happiness is a story, a fantastic story that begins at birth and ends at death. It may be a tale of lost love, with the protagonist searching for what was once his. It may be a coming-of-age story, where the main character discovers what was inside all along. It may be a fantasy, a comedy, but most importantly, happiness is whatever the writer makes it. Like any story, happiness draws on from the author’s own ideals and values.…

In Paul Kalanithi’s memoir When Breath Becomes Air, he teaches the reader that although time is limited and death is inevitable, life can still be meaningful and have a purpose, even if it is as simple as helping an individual find the strength to overcome whatever hardships they may be forced to face. The beginning of the book starts off with Paul reflecting on what death is and what it means. In one event at the beginning of his book, years before being diagnosed with lung cancer, he was working as doctor and helping a pregnant woman who was having distress with her unborn twins. The twins ended up being born prematurely and since there was a lack of development in their organs, neither newborn survived longer than twenty-four hours.…

Inside Albert Camus’s The Stranger, Camus portrays Meursault as an absurd hero. Meursault was attached to the physical world, and he was different from a normal individual. Meursault would have a direct impact from the “shimmering heat” (17) of the sun, which ultimately caused him to “squeeze his hand around [his] revolver” (59) and kill an Arab. As a result, Meursault had to live in jail, and he had to change his routine. He would spend “sixteen to eighteen hours a day” (79) sleeping, and his time would pass slowly.…

The meaning of life is a highly controversial topic among humans; one that has been debated for centuries. A particular philosopher, Thomas Nagel, has a certain idea about what the meaning of life. However, I do not agree with his position. Essentially, he believed that life has no meaning and that there is no rationale that could be given to it in order to make it meaningful. Nevertheless, even if everything we do in life will be forgotten, that does not mean humans cannot find meaning in their everyday life.…

How Camus chose Raymond and Salamano as Meursault’s. Raymond is a troublemaker but is important because Meursault becomes friends with him and that is what leads him to go to the beach. Raymond is also the reason the Arab is dead, being that he started the whole conflict with the group of Arabs and their sister. Raymond drags Meursault in his life immediately once he asked Meursault to write the letter to his Arab mistress and Meursault agreed. He was also the one who wanted revenge and had the gun, Meursault took it from Raymond so he did not kill the Arab, ironic.…
