The Strange Case Of Dr. Jekyll And Mr. Hyde

Have you ever really bonded with someone to the point that you and your fellow could be considered friends or more, but then this person you have bonded with turns out to be a completely different person with a different personality. This is what Mr. Gabriel Utterson is going through throughout the entire novel, most of the time without even knowing. The key aspect discussed in this essay is the idea that people may not always be who they seem. In the novel “The Strange Case of Dr.Jekyll and Mr.Hyde” a key theme discussed is the idea that people may not always be who they seem. Mr.Utterson is a colleague to Dr.Jekyll. When Jekyll starts acting strange, disappearing,and begins to trust a crook named Mr.Hyde. Soon after, Utterson discovers a letter, almost a suicide note from Jekyll. Jekyll admits to Utterson through the letter, telling him that he was an unhappy man as the result of the transformations he went through everyday, how much he struggled to not wreak havoc, and the secrets he had to keep from those he loved and from those who loved him. Thus, accepting the fact that he had a whole different layer to himself, and this layer was his dark place where he could go to hide.
