Video games allow the audience to actually experience the story rather than just listening and allowing the listener’s imagination to create the story.

Just like stories, video games have some type of morale involved, for an example in the game The Legend of Zelda, the story is about a hero trying to save the princess of the kingdom from the evil hands of a demon. The player has to go through different trial and overcome them to reach his goal. The morale of the game is through perseverance you will be able to reach the thing you most desire. This is the same kind of story like the movie Hercules, Hercules had to overcome many different trials to be able to have passage into the kingdom of gods. Well the same way people think that because kids who play violent video games make kids into serial killers, applies to kids who learn from education games. Since kids are the next generation of humanity they keep evolving and certain things from the last generation are passed down or changed. Video games are arguably even less associated with storytelling than comics are, with some critics believing “that the video-game form is incompatible with traditional concepts of narrative” (Bissel, 93). Where the medium truly excels, however, is with its capacity for immersion. Like how the addition of sound allowed filmgoers to not just watch the action but hear it, “Every new medium that has been invented … has increased the transporting power of narrative” (Rose, 36). Where readers of books and viewers of movies are passive, gamers take an active role in their narratives. In games like Mass Effect this means making key decisions that affect the development of the plot, but in games like Naughty Dog’s Uncharted and The Last of Us, this…

For example if we focus on the 1998 Legend of Zelda, if you left Link idle for too long, he would start moving around and making gestures to signify his moods. We also see how Ellie reacts when Joel doesn't do anything; she starts making remarks and starts to get irritated. One particular moment when Joel shines a torch in her face, we see her squinting and finding it difficult to see her. The characters have their own personalities, making them more life like, along with the CGI and graphics in their animation.…

Escapism in Fiction Escapism occurs when someone tries to distract or relieve their mind from reality, especially by entertainment or engaging in fantasy. Fictional works appeal to many audiences because they give people the ability to escape reality. Although escapism is not the only reason that people like fictional stories, it is often considered as one of the leading reasons. Wanting to escape from a repetitive life and being entertained, wanting to control mood, and wanting to do something that can not be done in reality are some of the reasons that people use fiction as an escape from reality.…

Video games are helpful with enhancing cognitive skills and they actively teach problem-solving and creative ways of thinking that can be used in everyday life. They are motivating and goal-oriented, and they can be designed in so many different ways and be geared toward all different kinds of subjects and materials. If a video game is complex and difficult and requires so much time and effort to beat it, why do children still play them? Because they enjoy playing and being challenged, and because they are driven by the goal of beating the game, which makes all their time and effort worth it. The education system needs to look at how they can incorporate educational video games into schools to help encourage children to learn. The rest of the world is all about technology, and it is time for schools and learning environments to get up to speed so that students can learn in the same ways they experience life outside of a classroom; surrounded by technology and…
