In my experience growing up and living in the community of Eight Mile Rock, I would say that we are just as diverse as the characters in the story of “The Ugly Duckling.” Throughout the large community of Eight Mile Rock, there is a variety of people who are of different nationalities, which includes Haitians, Jamaicans, Bahamians, Cubans, Puerto Ricans, Mexicans, etc. residing within the same community. Many of these foreigners migrate to the Bahamas for asylum, which is one of the reasons why the ugly duckling ran away from his home.
