In this story, a girl named Cadence Sinclair Eastman lives in Burlington Vermont, with her mom. She and her mom moved to Beechwood in summer fifteen. They move to beechwood because a traumatic experience occurs in Burlington which causes her mom not want to stay there. But come to find out that moving to Beechwood is not that much better. Here Cadence has an accident and causes her to lose her memory and have migraines. In Beechwood there are four liars including Cadence. The other three are Mirren, johnny, and Gat. They hang out all summer and got to spend time with each other. Close to the end of the summer is when the accident happened. Cadences head injury makes her not remember anything so people have to tell her what happened in the past. She said that when people feel sorry for her “It makes her skin crawl” (Lockhart 82). This means that she isn’t really fond of when people try to help or baby her because of one accident. She just wants help when she needs it like when she can’t remember something. A lot of people want to help but she just feel uncomfortable. A lot of people still don’t realize what happened. They know what went on but they haven't comprehended it yet. She wants to tell them her memory and how it is “hacked” but she don’t want them to feel worse than she already does. To cause this incident the liars did something horrible on summer fifteen. This left three of the liars and two dogs dead. The only one alive is …show more content…
They did this to prove a point but really the only thing they did was kill each other. On top of killing three of the liars they also killed two dogs. Cadence said “My chest feels hollow and iced” (Lockhart 193). Cadence explained to Gat that they killed the Goldens, the dogs, when they set the Clairmont on fire. When she said that her chest feels iced and hollow she means that she feels cruel and empty. After burning down the Clairmont Cadence had realized what she had done and what she had lost. After they burned down the Clairmont Cadence looked back to where she last saw Gat. She feels as if she has lost everything and everyone. She describes his feeling as really lonely and cold like fog running from her chest through her back and making its way up her neck. In that moment she realized that her and the liars did something that they shouldn’t have and in return all she got was left alone.
Cadence is going through a hard time with being alone. To make it worse she can’t remember what all happened she can only remember parts of it. She has to live with the thought that she killed three of her best friends and she will have migraines everyday. My thoughts about Cadence and the liars burning down the Clairmont is that it wasn’t a very bright idea. They could have found another way to express their feelings. Now three of them are dead and one of them has to live with a life long head injury and the thought of what she did, took the lives of

In The Great Gatsby’s introduction of the valley of ashes, Nick Carraway defines it as “a fantastic farm where ashes grow like wheat into ridges and hills and grotesque gardens; where ashes take the forms […] of men who move dimly and already crumbling through the powdery air” (Fitzgerald 23). It is ironic then that in this garden grows Myrtle, whom Nick describes as having a “perceptible vitality about her as if the nerves of her body were continually smouldering” (23). If Myrtle resides in a garden of abject poverty, why would author F. Scott Fitzgerald choose to make her an evergreen of spirited life? The answer could be that a life of poverty may still be richer than one lived in superficial wealth. Myrtle Wilson is anxious to escape her station in life.…
