To convince the villagers to vote for Marcus Ibe, Roof tells of Marcus’s life before he decided to run for office, and gives reasons for why they should vote for Marcus. Roof tells them to vote for Marcus because, he gives back to their community even more than a his own, Marcus respects their Igbo traditions, and he gets to know the people of the village. Since the villagers trust Roof so much, and they have witnessed some of the things that Roof had told them, Roof was successful in convincing them to vote for Marcus. I think that Marcus’s reasons are sincere and not solely for political gain.
