Twenty years old William Kamkwamba, built windmills to support his poor home town. Before he started building, his home was in danger for low agriculture leading to starvation. Mr. Kamkwamba wanted to use his creativity and found a book about windmills. He was able to learn how to build them, and as he is self-taught he was able to build two windmills, one for electricity and another for water just from scrap at a junkyard. The text states, “I was thinking about what I’d like to have at home, and I was thinking, what can I do?” (pg. 520). Aimee had to suffer from having no legs and feet, so she had to replace them with mechanical ones which changed the way people thought of her. She was afraid to do some normal leg tasks and people said that she had an inappropriate symptom. Although that might bring her down, but what doesn’t is her perseverance telling her that her difference is a good thing. She was able to use her new legs and do amazing things with them. The text shows one of Aimee’s inspiring statements, “And the marvelous thing was that this six-year-old understood something that it took me twenty-something years to get, but that we both did discover-that when we can celebrate and truly own what it is that makes us different, we’re able to find the source of our greatest creative power” (pg. 498). What Aimee means is that we can discover what is true about our differences and show how we can use those as an advantage to us and our bodies. Aimee Mullins was able to figure out how she coped with obstacles when she used her difference as to show people that she is a more powerful woman than anyone. With those legs Aimee was able to win some world records in track because she believed she can fix her problem. Coping with an obstacle is not easy nor sometimes hard, but it is up to the individual on how they decide how to cope and face their adversity. Some people like William will look up to their instinct and creativity
