Imagine being a husband coming home from work to your wife. You usually go out on a Thursday night, but a heavy weight on your shoulders has you feeling guilty. You tell your wife that you do not want to go out and that you need to confess something to her. Being a detective, you are usually a very honest and honorable man, but you have cheated on your wife and tell her that you want a divorce. You even offer to leave her money so that she will be stable. The news you have told your wife has caused her to react in a horrible way. She grabs a weapon and murders you. Your wife, Mary Maloney, is guilty of second degree murder. Mary and her husband Patrick Maloney were a happy couple before the affair. When Patrick walked in, she tried to kiss him and made him a drink like she always does. That means that there is no reason for Mary to have wanted to kill Patrick before he told her the bad news. Mary was seemed fine when Patrick came home and was ready to go out, but when he told her the bad news, her attitude completely flipped. She went from normal to cross. The bad news triggered her thoughts and emotions to be uncontrollable and it caused to act out. She did not expect to hear the news and did not know how to express her emotions. Her first thought was that if she could not have him, then no one could. Then, she realized that a solution to that was to murder him. She reacted so quickly that she did not even think about her consequences. Her obsession and controlling mindset over him caused her to kill him. When she went to the freezer to get meat for dinner, she did not know that she was going to kill him with the leg of the lamb. It was just one of the first things she saw that could be used as a weapon, so she grabbed it to murder
