A minister was making a home visit to one of the younger families in his parish. A five-year-old boy answered the front door and told the minister his mother would be there shortly. To make some conversation, the minister asked the little guy what he would like to be when he grows up. The boy immediately answered, "I 'd like to be possible." "What do you mean by that?" the puzzled minister asked. "Well, you see," the boy replied, "just about every day my mom tells me I 'm impossible!" How many of you have been called “impossible” when you were young?

So last week we had read gospel Luke together. And this very same story is written in Luke 6:35-52, which was located inbetween two separate scriptures that we have read together. So here is little

While they were gathered around, it became a dinner time. So Jesus asked question to Philip, one of his disciples, and said, “where are we to buy bread for these people to eat?” Since many of us already know the story that we have read today, the crowd who gathered around Christ was not only 10 or 20. John said, it was 5,000 people not including woman and …show more content…
Holy Spirit will not say “dingus, sup” or ask us to share a meal with him. However, as rachael helped Katherine to figure out the answer of 10 + 1, Holy Spirit will always ready to help us. Also, when Katherine said, “will you forgive me?” Rachael said, “definitely.” Many of the Christians are not interested to live with Holy Spirit or even recognizing Holy Spirit in daily lives. Have you ever said “I got your back” to your families or friends? Why you said? Because you love and care them, right? Jesus loved his disciples. So when they showed their weaker faith or brought problems to Jesus, Jesus took care of it. For us, we have Holy Spirit who got our back. Don’t worry because your faith is not strong enough. Just come to the Spirit of God and ask help. You will face the miracles of God, and other people will see the work of God through your

Jesus didn’t say much more about this man who he was, if he had family or friends, the only things we do know, is that he was abandoned and left alone. Perhaps some of us have gone through a similar experience or had known someone who had. When we face trials and challenges, those to whom we’re connected with, can help and support us. When we’re hit by fear and anxiety, they can give us right — perspective…

Heavily influenced by Mark’s gospel, Luke was compelled to collect his own history as well and complete the work. Some pieces between all three books, more closely related between Mark and Luke, were similar, but told differently according to who was telling it; Mark’s Gospel is the shortest, and the most heavily abbreviated in storytelling, whereas Luke defines and describes specific scenes Mark did previously mention. It is a more “fleshed out” version. In Mark’s version of Peter’s denial, he briefly examines the scene before moving onto Jesus’s main trial: Peter’s denial was the final chord for Christ before his meeting with Pontius Pilate, and an extremely important turning point before Christ’s inevitable betrayal by his people. ““Truly…

From the book of acts chapter six to eight, and the book of Luke chapters nine and ten, the seventy and the seven are chosen as evangelists to fulfill Jesus's commission to preach, heal, and cast out demons when the twelve appear to be unwilling or unable to do so. Robertson focuses on the events leading to the rise of the seven in the book of acts, similarities between passages involving the seven and the seventy and the role of the twelve in Luke and Acts, and the threat posed by the other numbered groups to that balance. The article also explores the possibility of the relevance of systematic reading of the apostolic leadership in Luke and acts to the current struggles that involve the Christian community and the Episcopal Church as well.…

Nathan did this with David (2 Samuel 12:1-10). But Jesus used this approach often when confronting the Pharisees, scribes and any other that sought to do Him wrong. The Parable of the “Wicked Vinedressers” (Matthew 21:33-46) is a classic example. Jesus spoke of a landowner who planted a vineyard and leased it to wicked vinedressers who when the owner sent servants to collect they killed them and refused to pay the owner of the vineyard. The owner of the vineyard sent several more servants just to be killed also, so finally the owner sent his son, whom the vinedressers eventually killed out of bitter envy and hatred.…

Over the years much study has been done of the Gospels. Each time a scholar begins to study the Gospels they must take a step back and determine what the Gospels mean to them. Scholarly methods can depend upon one’s view of the Gospel’s authoritative nature. Scholarly study of the Gospels utilizes either a critical methodology or one where the Gospels are seen as an authority set by God due to being sacred text (Harris, 2011). The use of fundamentalist methodology in which the Gospels are viewed as a black and white fallacy creates a false dilemma (Harris, 2011).…

The Broader Context: The Gospel of Luke In order to best understand how to properly interpret Luke 16:1-13, it is best to first read the passage in light of its surrounding context—the entire book of Luke. In his introduction, Luke clearly states his purpose in writing this gospel: “so that you may know the exact truth about the things you have been taught,” (Luke 1:4). This is Luke 's purpose statement, but what is the truth the Luke is trying to demonstrate? The main theme Luke wants to convey, this “exact truth,” in his gospel is that Jesus of Nazareth is the Messianic Servant to all humankind.…

In this paper, I will be talking about the trustworthiness and historicity of the Gospels. The historical reliability of the Gospel accounts of Jesus’ miracles, and did Jesus claim to be God. Did his disciples believe he was God? The accuracy of the resurrection accounts in the Gospels, that is, did Jesus rise bodily from the dead?…

The King Jesus Gospel Book Reflection Joshua Helms GLST 220-001 9/22/15 The Gospel is an interesting topic that seems to be an endless discussion for pastors, professors, and theologians. It is essentially a spiritual glue that holds us as Christians together in order to seek after God. My personal understanding of the Gospel was bland before taking GLST 220 and I am grateful to have a better understanding of it now. As Christians, we should always be seeking how to fully understand the Gospel and what it means to serve the Kingdom of God.…

MRS 325: The relationship between the Gospel of Luke and Acts The Gospel According to Luke as well as the Acts of the Apostles collectively make up 27 percent of the information of the whole New Testament. These two works were authored by Luke, a Gentile believer (Colossians 4:10-14). Seeing that he just authored these two books, which his writings constitute over one fourth of the New Testament writings (making Luke the greatest possible author), the study of the content and message is quite important to us. (Dulle, n.d.) Acts and that Luke are companion books might be seen in many ways.…
