The author did not have much descriptions on him. As a reader, we only know that he was a friend of Brently Mallard. He was the one bought the news to the Louise’s house and told Josephine to comfort Louise and told her the news of the death of her husband. In the whole story, the only thing he wanted to do was taking care of Louise, because he knew that she had a heart trouble. From the beginning to the end, no change had shown, therefore, he is a static character.
Brently Mallard: I think he is a flat and static character. Same as the characters above, not much descriptions about him. We only knew that he was the husband of Louise and was supposed be dead. Moreover, he only showed up at the end of the story, therefore, I think he is a static character.
Louise Mallard: I think she is a round and dynamic character. She has heart trouble and her husband died on an accident. The author did describe her a lot more than the other characters. From the beginning of the story to the middle and towards the end. I can clearly see that she was changing. From she was sad from the bad news to using a positive attitude to think that she is free now and she should move forward. From she was already for the change, but suddenly she saw her husband at last.
