The Story of an hour written by Kate Chopin and Gorilla my Love written by Toni Cade Bambara share a lot of similar literary devices throughout the story. These two stories may have 8a different plot for both of them but they have a message in both of them. With both of these short stories these two authors use similar literary devices. One of the literary devices that are used within both of these stories is dramatic irony. The other literary device that is used is imagery. But when she told her sister she had to make sure she did it carefully because of her heart problems Mrs. Mallard was facing. Throughout the story Chopin was showing the way that Mrs. Mallard when she heard that her husband was killed in the train wreck. Towards the end of the short something dramatic happens that changes the whole story. Both of the sisters were walking downstairs when all of a sudden the front door was starting to open and it ended up being her husband Brently Mallard. Mrs. Mallard ended up having a heart attack because she was so shocked that her husband had was not dead from the train accident that had happened. The dramatic irony is that at the end of the story she had died of a heart attack. In Gorilla my love written by Bambara there is dramatic irony. Hazel is a young girl who is 13 years old. She was told that one day she was going to get married to this man called Hunca Bubba which happened to be her uncle. He told her he was going to marry her when she was very young. One day hazel went to the movies to see gorilla my love and she was disappointed because the movie was about Jesus and not about a cartoon that she thought it was so she felt betrayed
