As far as we can date back, men have been the head honcho, the superior, the top dog. Men have held government offices, higher job positions, and been the head of the house. They get paid more, recommended more, and looked up to more than women do. The president is always male, and the congress is made up of 83% men (1). In 2012 men’s average annual earnings was $11,607 higher than women’s average annual earnings that year (2). In the active American Military men make up 85.5% whereas women only make up 14.5% (3). Women are proving men and the whole world wrong. It wasn’t until 1857 that women were granted the right to divorce their husbands, under certain circumstances. Thirteen years later women were allowed to keep their earnings, and in 1920 women gained the right to vote (4). Aside from the facts, women have accomplished many other things. Women can have a job, have their own bank account, attend Ivy League schools, become an astronaut, and become a judge.
