The Story Of Adnan's Narrative

Improved Essays
At the end of the day Jay says, "Adnan did it. I saw her body in his trunk. I helped him bury her body."
When they get into all the other stuff he just says, "Man, that was so long ago I don't recall the specifics. All I know is he showed me the body in the trunk and I helped him bury her."
The ONE thing that gives me pause about Jay is the one thing he has been consistent about, the trunk pop. Whether he telling the truth about Adnan popping the trunk and showing him Hae's body, or if he is substituting Adnan for someone else (himself?) or whatever. There is something about that statement that rings true to me.He's not consistent about that either. Sometimes it happens at his family's house, sometimes at Best Buy, etc.

In addition, Jay was able to take the police “to where the car was” which was huge to the states case. Jay’s ability to lead to authorities directly to the car in question is vital to the investigation and proves that he was being truthful in his testimony. Another factor that proves Jay’s story is true is that there is another witness who heard the same story from a friend. The witness, a girl named Laura, was talking with a friend when he informed he earlier that day he was with his friend and he saw Hae’s dead body in the back of a trunk. When asked who her friend was with, she replied “I think his name was Adnan” thus being a secondary proving Jay’s story is both, correct and accurate.…

In the story “IND AFF” the narrator is a smitten young woman in her early twenties who is in a relationship with her married history professor. The narrator is representing women in the 1980’s and their societal traditions of this time. For example, in the 1980’s women were very much dependent on men, because humanity was not familiar with the idea of women in the workforce or undertaking acts outside of housework and caretaking. Many women continued this way of living for it was what was known, deciding it to be best not to go against the status quo. Alternatively, in the narrative “Geese” the storyteller is a young woman who moves from Baltimore to Japan in “hopes of making a pile of money, stocking it away, then living somewhere cheap and…

The second reason I think Adnan must be innocent is because there are too many inconsistencies that Jay provides during his testimony while being interviewed by the police. Jay provides many stories, which sometimes do not match up to Adnan’s story or to the stories he provides. There were many inconsistencies that did not make sense, of which I will share the 3 that I found most important, which you can find in episode 4 called “Inconsistencies". The…
