There once was a man that had a great sense of humor, he said “It is better to remain silent and be thought a fool than to speak and remove all doubt.” He also used humor to relieve the pressures of being president. He said “With a fearful strain that is on me night and day, if I did not laugh I should die.” President Abraham Lincoln suffered from depression all his life, from the day that he was born to the day that he died. When the war ended in April 15, 1865 Abraham Lincoln didn’t have much time to do any other great things during his presidency because on March 24, 1865 Abraham was assassinated by John Wilks Booth. Abraham went to Ford’s Theater to watch a play, but what Abraham did not know about the play is that right behind his seat was an assassin waiting to kill him. After Booth shot Lincoln he jumped out of the theater room made just for the president and broke his ankle. At first the crowed thought that the bang from the gun was part of the play until Mary Todd Lincoln screamed. Booth got out of the theater and got out of Washington D.C. without being caught. Eleven days after the assassination Booth was surrounded in a barn in Virginia. The troops that had Booth cornered lit the barn on fire and when Booth lifted his gun to shoot, the troops sent 2 rounds in to the building, Booth lowered his gun and went with the troops where he would later be
