The movie “Memento” shows the life of a man named Leonard who has anterograde amnesia. Overall, the movie does a good job with portraying its description of this condition. However, just like many other movies, the movie also portrays some inaccuracies in its description of this condition. The way this condition is described throughout the movie is depicted accurately. This type of condition has to do with the ability of not being able to create new memories of facts and events. Often, this is also referred to as declarative memory. Though, many will argue that that statement is not true. But, studies have found that information does not have to go through. short- term memory in order to reach long term memory. Short-term memory is the place where “recent experiences and perceptions are synthesized or encoded into more enduring "long-term" memories.” Moreover, leonard does have working memory though. Working memory is defined as “the place that holds experiences for moments to seconds.” This essentially means that Leonard has the ability to actually hold a conversation, that is as long as the other person doesn't go on speaking for a long period of time.
